For 23 years, Girls on the Run has stood by every girl. By participating in Girls on the Run programming, girls learn to raise the bar -- to use their voices for positive and effective change, to become empowered leaders over their lives and in their communities; to simply become the best version of their already extraordinary selves. We will always inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident visionaries, changemakers and dream-chasers. But, our girls want to know when we will believe it for ourselves.
The 2019 #LetsTellHer campaign challenges women to take what we say and do, when we encourage our girls, and apply it to our own lives. It’s never too late to live without fear or trepidation. To be bold. To become the women of our dreams.
On October 7thI will be running my first marathon, the Lakefront Marathon- crossing the finish line in Milwaukee after 26.2 miles will feel even better knowing I helped to make a difference in the lives of girls! I will be running with Girls on the Run Solemates, the charity program benefiting Girls on the Run of Charlotte.
I’ve been involved with GOTR since 2013 and have seen first hand the impact it has on girls’ lives. Girls on the Run transforms the way girls see themselves and their opportunities. They do this by teaching girls about healthy decision making and life skills, all while training them to run a 5k. Girls in the program learn about mental, physical, emotional and social health, as well as experience the empowering effects of crossing a finish line!
Over 50% of the girls who participate in the Girls on the Run program receive financial assistance. Girls on the Run Solemates raise critically needed funds to serve more girls in the Charlotte area.
I appreciate your help with this effort. Together, we can create a world of healthy, happy, active girls who believe anything is possible!
