The mission of Girls on the Run is to empower girls for a lifestyle of healthy living. Running is used to build confidence while having fun. Coaching the girls over four seasons has also empowered me to live my best life. The lessons we teach each week, not only help with the trials that young girls face, but also require us coaches to reflect on our lives. Running has empowered me to be the best version of myself. I’ve pushed beyond obstacles and discovered that I’m stronger than I ever imagined. Running activates my star power and becoming a SoleMate is the next phase of my journey within Girls on the Run.
Over the last few years my dearest friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Witnessing their strength has ignited a fire in me to run farther than ever before. If they could endure and survive countless surgeries and treatments, I certainly had no need to question my own abilities. I’ve committed to running my first half marathon on Sunday, February 9th in Jacksonville, Florida. I will be participating in the Donna Run with my best friend Norma & I’ll carry a piece of Natalia, Lisette & Christine every step I take.
Please help me reach my goal of $175 to allow a young girl the opportunity to participate in this amazing program. As important, help support coaches who run for amazing causes such as breast cancer and other debilitating illnesses.
I am Missy and I’m running for a change.
