As many of you know, I serve on the board of Girls on the Run, Los Angeles. It is an organization focused on giving girls who are in 3rd to 8th grade important psychosocial skills through running and a focus on physical, social, and emotional well-being. That matters...because girls face social pressures and conflicting messages about how they should act and who they should be. It doesn't have to be this way.
We believe that EVERY GIRL is inherently FULL OF POWER and POTENTIAL. By knowing they are the leaders of their lives, these are the girls who WILL CHANGE THE WORLD.
Due to the challenges posed by COVID-19, we could not run our typical after-school program, instead focusing on in-person socially distanced practices at local parks. However, this shift means that we've diminished resources to maintain the program and prevents us from expanding to additional park sites. We have an opportunity to receive a $5,000 grant from Adidas this year, on the conditions that our board is able to raise at least $5,000 in matching donations through fundraising. That means that your support + dollars will have 2x the impact! I am personally trying to raise $1000, so please help me (and hundreds of girls all over LA county) by considering Girls on the Run for your year-end contributions.
