I am so excited to have been selected as Soulmate on special assignment to raise $526.20 for Girls on the Run of the Rockies!
The funding from this campaign helps to support scholarship sites for Title 1 schools where young girls' families cannot afford the registration rate for the program. I have coached for 7 seasons, all at scholarship sites, and have seen the profound impact this opportunity provides young ladies. (Especially those who never have opportunities for extracurricular activities due to finances...)
As a privileged individual, especially as a kid, I got to experience a lot of clubs, athletics, camps, etc. that provided me with enriching experiences that made me the well-rounded and jill-of-all-trades that I am today. (Although a master of none, HA!) These experiences helped to boost my confidence and taught me that hard work and commitment can really change your ability to do something and that working in teams is often the only way to get a goal accomplished.
My hope is that GOTR (Girls on the Run) is a stepping stone to future clubs, activities, etc. as these ladies progress through middle, high, and college. If you didn't know, belonging to a team/sport/club is proven to support kids academically too!
This campaign hits close to home as I am devoted to my students and providing them with opportunities in any way I can.
I would so appreciate your support today with any donation big or small!
Oh and while I am fundraising, I will be training for the San Antonio Rock 'n Roll Marathon (marathon #3 for me) on Sunday, December, 3rd. You will get a special message about that if you donate to our girls.
