On March 30, 2014, I will be running the LOVE RUN Half Marathon in Philadelphia which is 13.1 Miles! This will be my second half marathon but this time I get to run with a greater purpose. Girls on the Run is an amazing program that empowers young girls to be confident in themselves while learning to be healthy and active. I had the pleasure of being a running buddy to my niece Lily in a GOTR 5k and it was so much fun. They do such an awesome job of cheering these girls on and reminding them how special they are just by being them. When I heard I could become a SoleMate and raise money for GOTR of Lancaster, I was totally in!! 100% of the proceeds go to Girls on the Run of Lancaster's scholarship fund. These scholarships help low income families pay for their young girls to participate. So I ask that you donate as little or as much as you can to help support the young girls in this confidence building program!!
~Thank You in Advance~
Here is a little about GOTR:
Girls on the Run combines training for a 5k event with healthy living education. We use exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouraging role models to help girls discover the confidence they need in those critical pre-teen years and beyond. Through interactive activities such as running, playing games and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being their unique and real selves. Our hope is that every girl believes and can say, “I belong just the way I am.”
