Girls on the Run is coming to Prince George's County, and it needs your help! Judith P. Hoyer Montessori, one of the tentative GOTR sites, is trying to raise $5,000 to help bring GOTR to our county. Please consider making a contribution to support our amazing school and this amazing program.
WHAT IS GIRLS ON THE RUN?
Girls on the Run - DC (GOTR-DC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to changing girls' lives. Currently we serve 2,200 girls a year in Washington, DC and 70% receive financial support so they have access to the program. In Spring 2018, we are expanding our programming into Prince George's County, the third most populous jurisdiction in the region without Girls on the Run.
We offer a proven, character development after-school program to equip pre-teen girls (grades 3 - 8) to develop confidence and form habits that prepare them for a lifetime of healthy living. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons help girls make positive decisions to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.
At the end of each 10 week program, the girls run a celebratory 5K to experience the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment. However, at Girls on the Run, the finish line is just the beginning, as our ultimate goal is to provide the girls with tools and resources that develop their ability to think critically - a skill that will serve them for a lifetime.
