Hello! A few years ago, I discovered something that makes me feel empowered...running! I run marathons to prove to myself that I can do anything I set my mind on and work hard toward. I am proud of what I have completed, but I want to do more! I am signed up for the Borgess Run for the Health of it Kalamazoo Marathon and I am a new coach for the Kalamazoo Girls on the Run (GOTR) organization. I am very excited about both events, so I thought I could incorporate my passion for running and my passion for encouraging young ladies to embrace who they are, into my training.
These passions have led me to train for the Kalamazoo Marathon and raise funds in honor of the GOTR non-profit organization, which teaches young ladies life skills through coached activities, eventually leading up to a celebratory 5K race. The hope is that these girls can utilize what they learn in GOTR and become powerful women who unleash their confidence through a new appreciation of health and fitness.
This world is not an easy place to feel comfortable in. It is difficult for young girls to be themselves with confidence and health. So, the GOTR program is a wonderful one to have in the Kalamazoo area, but some girls need assistance to be able to participate. It costs about $170 for each girl to join, and for some this is a lot of money. I am asking for donations for them. Each donation will go toward helping girls join this amazing organization! The mission of GOTR is to create “a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams,” and I'd love to contribute. Each donation and the opportunity to raise money for these girls will motivate me through struggles during my training and each of the 26.2 miles I run in the Kalamazoo Marathon. I am not running this for myself, but for girls everywhere to feel comfortable in their own skin and EMPOWERED! Thank you for your time and your visit to my page and I hope you will consider donating!
