On Saturday, April 13, 2013, we are running our first 5K in the Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness which is held every April to celebrate National Donate Life month by increasing organ, tissue, eye, blood, and bone marrow donations...and of course, raising money for a much needed cause.
Today there are over 116,000 people waiting for an organ donation in the United States. 18 patients die every day because of a shortage of organ donors. Many patients need blood transfusions on a daily basis due blood loss from surgery or traumatic accidents. These patients are only able to receive the transufsions they need because of the people who take the time to donate. Every year, thousands of patients are diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, genetic disorders, sickle cell disease, and immune deficiencies that can be successfully treated with a marrow cell transplant. Majority of patients are unable to find a match within their family and only half of these patients receive the transplant they need to live from a non-family member.
Your donation, even as little as $1.00, is so important and can help bring hope to those waiting for the perfect match. Please help us help those in need. All money raised will go to the Rock River Valley Blood Center so they can help every patient find their lifesaving match. For more information please visit www.redshoerun.org. Your donation is greatly appreciated.
We are truly honored and extremely excited to be a part of such a wonderful cause.
Thank you so much for your time and donation.
