Position Profile A Girls on the Run Junior Board Member must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. The Girls on the Run program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living which includes an introduction and education on important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, health decision-making, and self-respect, while training for a 5k event. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle, and harness the inner strength that they possess. Our important mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind, while reducing the many risks they face today. Junior Board Member Responsibilities: · Is at least 16 years old, and a 10th-12th grade student by September 30, 2018. - Is able to drive or have their own transportation · Regularly attends board meetings and related important meetings · Regularly utilizes email for board communications · Makes a serious commitment to participate actively in board work · Considers volunteering to be a Junior Coach @ a GOTR site or volunteer at the 5K to better understand the GOTR program · Is active in committees, annual evaluation, and planning efforts All applicants will participate in a short interview with a few of our GOTR Board Members, and then 2-3 applicants will be granted Junior Board Membership for the 2018-2019 GOTR season.
