Girls on the Run is a nationwide after-school program offered to 3rd-5th grade girls. The program inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. As we continue to grow and serve more girls, it is important that we keep a percentage of our veteran coaches while adding new volunteer coaches to our council. Without volunteer coaches, this program is unable to be offered. Girls on the Run of Margaret Mary Health and the girls in your communities need your help. Volunteers are needed in all schools in Ripley, Decatur and Franklin Counties.
*Coaches are trained and supported by the council director.
*Coaches must be CPR certified. MMH offers a FREE class to those who need certification.
*Coaches may be anyone who would like to commit to the positive development of young girls.
*It is imperative coaches are dependable and enthusiastic.
*Coaches DO NOT need to be runners.
*All materials are provided including a written curriculum.
*Season length is 10 weeks; coaches may choose to coach 1 or 2 days a week.
*Lessons are 75 minutes; days of week are determined by coaches' availability.
*Two to three coaches, depending on team size, must be present at all times.
